Art Against Hate

Updated: 2 days ago

In 2011, I was commissioned by SamTrans, a public transit company in the Bay Area, to create a bus wrap that promoted diversity, inclusion, and acceptance in light of the increasing number of anti-Asian hate crimes nationwide.

My intention was for people to see themselves represented when the bus passed by, showcasing individuals of various religions, skin tones, and gender identities. The design was finished in less than two weeks and was featured on two buses that traveled through San Mateo County from June to mid-July.

Seeing the buses driving around the community filled me with pride. As the son of Filipino immigrants, it was particularly meaningful for me to contribute to SamTrans' anti-racism initiative through my artwork.
