In 2011, I was hired by SamTrans, a public transportation company in Northern California, to design a bus wrap that advocated for diversity, inclusion, and acceptance in response to the rising number of hate crimes across the country.
I aimed for individuals to feel represented as the bus drove by, featuring people from different religions, skin colors, and gender identities. The project was completed in under two weeks and appeared on two buses that circulated in San Mateo County and San Francisco from June to mid-July.
Observing the buses circulating the neighborhood filled me with a sense of pride. Being the child of Filipino immigrants, it held special significance for me to support the SamTrans anti-hate initiative.
